At present, the carbon emission reduction has been accepted as the common creed by the whole international society. China also established a goal that carbon emission per GDP of 2020 must be decreased by 40% to 45% compared with that of 2005. It can be expected that construction and related industries with high energy consumption and high carbon emission will inevitably be the focus highly concerned by the technical innovation, policy and industrial restructuring. However, compared to the mainstream structure materials, such as cement and steel, the timber material which is more recyclable, environmentally-friendly and lower carbon emission has been ignored for a long time in China. Therefore, this paper focuses on the low-carbon performance of timber material and its construction products, assesses the application prospect, and analyzes the influencing factors on the development of the material market by the tool of Dynamic Actor Network Analysis (DANA). And try to find a valid way to achieve the goal of emission reduction by developing low-carbon building by apply low-carbon structure material. In this paper, the development of green building and building efficiency have been reviewed, which is compared with the concept of low-carbon building and material. Low-carbon building is believed to meet the standard of green building, and the application of low-carbon material is the key to the low-carbon efficiency. Based on the previous research, the method of Life Circle Assessment is used to analyze both the energy consumption and carbon emission in operation stage and the resource consumption of material in embodied stage for different structure styles of villa and apartment, which are designed in timber structure, steel structure and concrete structure respectively. The results show that the timber structure is better in all fields and have impressive low-carbon efficiency. Furthermore, by means of DANA, a network model which is about low-carbon timber construction market is established, the goals and interests relationship of actors within the market are made clear, and also their market expects are determine by literature review and market investigation. The preliminary conclusions are achieved based on the analysis of the model's applicability. Simplified model and other improved ones are established about the main contradictions and problems in the preliminary conclusions. The results show that influencing factors of market development is complicated and need time to adjust to each other. But the market can be promoted effectively by ways that the government leads the demonstration projects and impels the contract energy service companies. Moreover, market subjects have obvious different recognization of supply and demand, the concept of low-carbon and the policy's direction. By perfecting low-carbon standard and promoting the technology industrialization the awareness of products distribution and consumption will raise effectively. The policies of government should improve the standards and relevant certificate authorities at first, and then implement economic stimulation policies gradually.
