Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) Access Technology Convergence Patterns And Economic Analysis

This paper discusses the technical convergence and economic cost of FMC (Fixed Mobile Convergence) access technology. The following results are obtained:1. Based on the study of applicability and network architecture of the FMC access technology like WLAN, WiMAX and Bluetooth, the comparability of FMC access technology is made, including applicability closely related to scenes, flexibility in architecture and complementarity with other access technology.2. General characteristics are made into conclusion by research of the mechanism of NGN functional architecture and IMS session border function and by case study of 3GPP-WLAN convergence.3. According to NGN framework and access technical characteristics, three sets of patterns of access technology convergence are put forward: the access convergence based on transport layer, the access convergence based on service layer and centralized control, and the RAN convergence.4. Economic cost analysis is made and cost formula is gained for FMC under the scenes of WiMAX fixed-mobile access architecture and WLAN local access.The innovative results are as follow:1. FMC access convergence patterns are put forward, and have the following advantages:(1).
