Petroleum is strategic resource because of its scarcity, meanwhile, a large amount of emissions produced by gasoline cars have polluted the atmosphere severely. The development of alternative fuel vehicles (AFV) is put forward for solving problems of environment and energy. In seeking for alternative fuels and substituting the traditional vehicles with cleanly ones is the focus of the government all over the world. It is important and strategic to decide on how to protect environment and reduce dependence on gasoline, develop clean vehicles and realize the corresponding progress of energy, economy and environment.Life Cycle Assessment(LCA),as a methodology of assessing the environment effect and energy consumption of input and output of a product system during the whole life cycle, has received cool eyes of many experts. In 1990s,LCA was applied in the research of AFV, and it realizes EEE of LCA of AFV. But from three aspects of EEE, not every aspect of AFV scenarios is better than gasoline vehicles. So it becomes a new topic that how to make comprehensive assessment about EEE of AFV.This paper sets up EEE analysis model of LCA with the theory of LCA, and devises assessment targets system of AFV. Then it makes comprehensive assessment about AFV with the methodology of fuzzy entropy method.At last, this paper chooses five controversial AFV scenarios, and makes LCA inventory by the way of large amount of data investigation and data analysis, then comprehensive assessment about AFV scenarios are made on the basis of LCA inventory. So we draw conclusions as follows: These scenarios are better than traditional petroleum to some extent, exclude methanol based on coal. Especially CNG and ethanol based on biomass are most effective. Taking CNG and ethanol based on biomass can ease energy crisis and environmental pressure effectively.This paper breakthrough original EEE of LCA of AFV, and set up comprehensive assessment model of AFV, which combine EEE. We can arrange every scenario in order by calculating comprehensive assessment index, which contribute to promoting right AFV for government.
