The research of productivity is a very important field of Economics, the focus of productivity research has changed from Partial Factor Productivity to Total Factor Productivity after the Second World War, this indicates the beginning of Modern productivity research, and it also helps the productivity research onto a new stage. On the ground of domestic and overseas existing research, this dissertation sum up theory of TFP, and introduce the measure of TFP change rate from two point of view: parametric estimation method and non-parametric estimation method. And then give a demonstration analysis about TFP change rate of China's Communications department during the past ten years. The main content of the dissertation is as following:The first part of this dissertation is an introduction. It introduce the development of productivity research, and some knowledge if TFP. This Chapter focuses on the history of TFP research both domestic and overseas, and then, indicates the outline of this dissertation and the meaning of this research to practice. The following chapter is about the theory of TFP. This dissertation systemic introduced basic theory of TFP, including the conception of TFP, main genre of TFP, develops history of TFP. Besides, this part sum up and analysis of TFP and Efficiency analyze problem.Thirdly part is the method to measure TFP change rate. It introduces the method to measure change rate of TFP from two points of view: parametric estimation method and non-parametric estimation method. It focuses on Malmquist-index, and Malmquist-index analyze. The fourth chapter is the most important of this dissertation. It gives a demonstration analysis about TFP change rate of China's Communications department during the past ten years. The beginning of this chapter is an introduction of China's Communications department, the following part analysis the model will be used, and the date that have been collected to be used in the following part, the last part is to compute the date, and analysis TFP change rate of China's Communications department. The last part is about problems and suggestions. It analysis the differences between parametric estimation method and non-parametric estimation method, when measure TFP change rate. This part also analysis the problems of the demonstration analysis, and give some suggestion for the further research.
