With the flow of large number of floating population of ethnic minority into cities, relatively centralized settlements of ethnic minorities emerge in some cities. As a marginal population conflicting between traditional and modern life, they hold the traditional culture of their own ethnic. Folk life are the most important manifestations of traditional culture. But the traditional folk-customs conflict with modern civilization in cities. In the process of adaptation between tradition and modern life, there are some variations in the basis of transition of traditional folk-customs to become harmonious with modern city life."Dongxiang Village"is just a kind of new phenomenon and a new community developing on the ground of floating population. Although it has been melt into city in geographical regions, the"Dongxiang Village"still floats in the margin of traditional life and culture. This thesis is mainly about the study of the present situation of"Dongxiang Village", its formation, human relationship, social organization, dietary structure and marriage and funeral customs as well, which is aimed at exploring the adaptation of marginal population to city life.
