Whether The SA8000 Certification Is Suitable For Chinese Enterprises Or Not

As the first international moral standard, SA8000 attracts great attention and widely discussion. SA8000 promotes social progress in view of promoting humanism consideration, social security and so on. But on the other hand, trade protectionists may take advantage of it as a new trade barrier.On the basis of recent analysis of SA8000's nature and game playing result among countries, this paper tries to discuss whether the SA8000 certification is suitable for Chinese enterprises or not in depth. It comes out that SA8000 harms Chinese enterprises especially the labor intensive ones in the short term, while in the long term with the opposite effect.Adopting the SA8000 standard is unavoidable for Chinese enterprises. On this condition, Chinese enterprises must do their best to protect the employees'just rights and undertake social responsibilities. They'd better take this opportunity to re-adjust and optimize the industrial structure to promote their Competitiveness. In addition, we should fight against the trade protectionists to avoid SA8000 being used as a trade barrier.
