| MICE and tourism industry are well known as two kinds of "Green Industry" today. Olympic Games and World Exposition will be held in Beijing, 2008 and Shanghai, 2010 respectively, which are two of the most famous mankind mega-events in the next three years, are attracting thousands of millions people from all the world and will greatly promote our economic development. The important questions that we will face and must solve are as follows: how to improve tourism cooperation between various areas and strongly develop tourism industry of a certain region and further our country by some mega-events such as Olympic Games and World Exposition, and on the contrary, how to meet the mega-events by using the advantage of conventional tourism, make the "engine" effects on economy, culture, society and so on, and at last realize the win-win situation between regional tourism industry and the mega-events. Obviously, the relationship between regional tourism industry and the mega-events is urgent to be discussed.At first in this paper, the related studies from theory and practice on this subject are reviewed, mega-events, regional tourism cooperation and other related concepts are analyzed deeply, and several sets of vague concepts popular over theory world are classified and systematized. Second, the impact models of mega-events on regional economy and regional tourism respectively are discussed, the direct, indirect and long-term effects of mega-events on economy, society, environment, and so on are examined, and the mechanisms of regional economy cooperation and tourism cooperation are investigated in this paper. Third, the support action of regional tourism cooperation on mega-events is presented from three aspects. At last, the impacts of 2008 Olympic and 2010 Expo on regional tourism cooperation are explored as an example of Yangzi River Delta Area, and some suggestions on real-time strategy of regional tourism cooperation around Yangzi River Delta Area are also proposed in this paper. |
