A Study On Economic Growth Convergence Of Shandong

The economic growth problem has been the focus that the economists pay attention to, is also the important target that governments in all countries pursue. Since 80's in 20 centuries, the empirical analysis of economic convergence became hot point to economists both from domestic and abroad. During this period, the models of convergence expand and the analyzing method renew continuously. The convergence problem causes thus high research enthusiasm, coming from economists' concern to equality among different regions on one hand, and on the other hand, coming from the extending disparity among international regions nowadays. The research of convergence incarnates economists' concern to the development of mankind.The local convergence research begins from 1996.In our country, under the influence of historical culture and socialism theory, intellectual especially economists pay attention to the balance development particularly. And in the meantime of economy's unprecedented development, the region disparity extends continuously influence the economists more strong, therefore, although domestic economists' research start comparing a night, develop very quickly in recent years.Through convergence analysis, economists hope to discover the fluctuation trend of economic disparity among different regions and look for the causes of back, so they can put forward effective improvement measure. This paper does empirical analysis to convergence in Shandong province. The aim is to provide basis for balance development through investigating the changing trend of economic disparity in our province by a more novel method.There is four parts in this paper in all. The first part is introduction, including the motivation, the framework and research methods of this paper. The second part is review on empirical analysis of economic convergence. In the third part, I use statistic method to find some feature of economic disparity in Shandong's development, and then, aim at the shortage of normally statistic method, this paper uses both statistic and econometric methods to do analysis of Shandong's per capita GDP data between 1993 and 2004 on the basis of Neoclassical Economics. In the forth part, this paper brings forward corresponding policy. The results don't support convergence in Shandong province since 90's in 20 centuries. The trend in Shandong during 1993-2004 years is the same to the whole country, and the analysis result of club convergence is a little different to Guangdong and Jiangsu. The economic disparity in Shandong keeps at a stable level. To balance development, it's not enough only depend on a market function. Through the analysis in this paper, it can do favor to the successive research, and to the government in policy making.According to the data in possession currently, the research of convergence in Shandong started from the same period to this paper of 2006. This paper carries comprehensive empirical analysis of absoluteσconvergence,βconvergence and club convergence, which having a certainly found meaning.
