Since China joined in WTO, the barrier of entry into port industry of china has been collapsing. A lot of powerful new competitors are attracted by the more and more open port market, making the business environment increasingly competitive .In the same time, many ports and cities ,even countries and areas whom ports belong to, join in a cut-throat competitions focusing on the status of international shipping center and container hub. Ningbo port is one of powerful competitors among them.In the thesis, the author uses the industry analyzing Method of Five Competitive Powers, which is developed by Professor Michael E. Porter, to analyze the business environment of port industry neighboring Ningbo port. After pointing out the great challenge Ningbo port confronts with, the author suggests that the port must follow the new developing trend of world port industry and make a new competitive strategy to replace the old one.Then, applying the value chain theory of Professer Michael E. Porter, the author analyzes the logistics value chain including ports and submits a new competitive strategy for Ningbo port — the integration strategy of logistics value chain . He justifies this new strategy with some practical cases, including successful experiences and bitter lessons whether in the sector or not.In the end, the author presents the target and key points of the integration strategy, and definitely provides for Ningbo port particular sub-strategies and operation methods in it' three major sectionalize markets : container, iron ore and crude oil.
