It has become an important strategy to maintain the enterprise's core competence that how the production management shall promptly satisfy the demand for development when facing to opportunity for a huge growth, and bring more economic benefit through strategic decision, working flow integration and personnel quality improvement in the resources input/output transformation process, and made the enterprise an imperative partner of its customers. The development history of production management started from beginning of the previous century when American engineer Taylor, the "Father of Scientific Control", advocated the scientific control movement and introduced a series of quantitative analytical approaches into the control process, established scientific operational procedures and standards and successfully revealed the nature of production control research. In 1913, the first assembly line was installed by Ford in his automobile works which, in combination with the standardization of parts and components, greatly improved the efficiency and reduced the cost of production, and therefore represented a new production manner on large scale and economic size. In early 1950's, American scientists Deming and Juland introduced various statistical quality control techniques and the concept of worker participation in quality control and improvement into Japanese enterprises. The concept was later enriched and perfected by the Japanese in their practice during 1960~1970's and combined with Japanese culture to form the Total Quality Control (TQC) system and laid a firm foundation for Japanese enterprises to win in the global competition. In middle of 1980's, along with the wide application of MRP, JIT, TQC and other advanced production control theories in leading manufacturing enterprises on the globe basis, the major production control approaches in different industrial countries was gradually generalized and formed a unified trend. For a long period, many industrialists and management theorist have been exploring the secret of Japanese enterprises' success, which is best illustrated by Toyota's victory in world market. Through its efforts lasting for more than half century, Toyota has created the management approaches of "Just-in-Time" and...
