Owing to its advantage in price, Personal Handphone System (PHS) has been developing rapidly in China since it entered our mobile communication market in 1997. It has got a common understanding that the development of PHS in China before 2004 is a"myth"of telecom industry. However, the advantages of PHS in price has become more and more unapparent since the middle of 2004, due to that the customers of China Telecom have been saturated,the influence of the promotion has been weakening gradually, and the prices of China Mobile and China Unicom have been reduced correspondingly. Regarding the Personal Handphone System with 100 million users, at present it is an urgent affair for China Telecom to build an improved industry chain, formulate feasible strategy, and find out active and effective measures to compete with mobile undertakers before the start of 3G.Based on the analysis on the business status of PHS business of Fuzhou Telecom Company, the thesis make a systematic analysis on the main factors of market orientation of PHS, and the influence of PHS on the whole mobile business. It also analyzes the influential factors of wireless communication market occupation rate, change trend of competition surroundings, and the influence of the new measures taken by mobile company on PHS. We predict the development of customers of mobile communication by quantification, and modify the result of the prediction.The thesis proposes strategies for Fuzhou Telecom PHS to compete with the mobile, on the basis of the market research, market prediction and system analysis. We plan for the value-adding business, name brand building, distribution channel, and customer management, etc. so as to get customers by hoisting customer value and improving the fine division of market, aiming at consolidation of the important status of PHS in wireless communication market by developing characteristic business and promoting competition capacity, to make preparation for the 3G business of China Telecom.
