Since 70's of the 20th century, there has been a great expenditure pressure of endowment insurance system due to economic depression and aging problem around the world, which compel each country and many experts to think the proper mode of pension security. Many governments started to take several reform measures in schedule, such as: reducing government responsibility in endowment insurance, exerting the function of enterprises, increasing personal awareness, and bringing the financial market into play, and etc. In 1995, the experts of World Bank on behalf of many international organizations summed up this theory as "three pillars" of endowment insurance which included mandatory public pension, mandatory private pension and individual savings. Referring to the experience of foreign countries, the pension system in our country is also adopted three pillar mode, consisting of basic national old-age insurance, occupational pension and individual deposit for old-age insurance. At the beginning of 1990s, Chinese government commenced to explore the road to develop occupational pension. And undergoing a decade, it brings forward a series of questions, such as: what is the current status of our occupational pension, which interrupts the growth of occupational pension and how to solve them? All these questions are the topic of this thesis. So it has significant and realistic value.The dissertation first discusses some definition and theories about occupational pension, and explains the difference between pension and occupational pension. Then the author demonstrates inevitable and rational existence of occupational pension. Meanwhile, the author analyzes the growing process of occupational pension from home and abroad to obtain some useful experience from other countries' successful cases. Afterward, the penman establishes a math model and carries on quantitative analysis of impact on the replacement rate of occupational pension. By model calculation, it finds out the relationship between basic national old-age insurance and occupational pension, and demonstrates the necessity of developing occupational pension.
