| The emergence of complexity thinking promoted the development of the science greatly. Human understanding of the nature had then transformed from linearity to nonlinearity, from equilibrium to disequilibrium, and from simpleness to complexity. Based on the complexity thinking, this paper conducts research on the management problems of large-scale construction projects, with the conclusion that managers would adopt integration management in large-scale construction projects in order to solve the problems above through information integration, process integration, and participant integration. The main contents are as follows:1. Literature review of history and state of the complexity research and the research of complexity in management science.2. Introduction and combination of the fundamental theories both on complexity research and construction project management to form integration management of large-scale construction projects based on complexity thinking3. Analysis of the state and reason of construction projects getting larger with the characteristics of large-scale construction projects in order to show that traditional management model was no longer suitable for large-scale construction projects. Therefore, management problems such as information problems, process problems, and organizing problems made integration management necessary.4. Through searching for the complexity root of large-scale construction projects, then this paper proposed the concept of complexity characteristics of large-scale construction project, namely time complexity and space complexity, and then analyzed the feasibility of process integration and participant integration of large-scale construction projects.5. Application of meta-synthesis in large-scale construction projects integration management. The management of construction projects can be propelled to a new level through information integration, process integration, participant integration, and knowledge integration management. |
