Tourism is a kind of comprehensive phenomenon related to numerous aspects, such as society, economy, culture, etc. During the past century, the tourist activities are changing and developing constantly with the development of social economy, science and technology and change of people's values. Tourist industry is a rising industry with extremely wide market prospects. As an ancient civilized country, China has many tourist resources of universally acknowledged: Long history, magnificent culture, beautiful natural landscapes, precious and unique humane views. The tourist industry of our country has made a staggering success during 20 years since reform and opening-up. Now, we are facing various kinds of challenges, especially our country joining WTO. While bringing the opportunity to us, it also makes us face fiercer international competition. To prevail over competition, Chinese must understand tourism and tourism industry more deeply.This paper first sketches systematically the basic conception and theoretical foundation of tourism. According to the annual historical data, study the development and trends of Chinese tourism industry and adopt SPSS software to make regression, predicting the condition in the following 5 years. Then explain the financing channel and planning of tourism project investment. On this basis, the economic benefit, social benefit and environmental benefit of tourism projects are appraised respectively, some methods and index systems are introduced. Finally, this paper analyzes the operation and characteristics of the tourism listed companies in our country, and carries on comprehensive appraisal to 32 tourist enterprises adopting the factor analysis approach.
