The Research On Forming Of Auto Industrial Cluster And Flexibiity

Since the mid of 20th century, the flexible production mode characteristic of flexible technology and complicate production network is gradually taking the place of inflexible one because of the drastic market competition and diverse consumption demand. At the same time, the spatial status of auto industry accordingly changes from the vertical hierarchical structure to the localized enterprise network structure, and auto industrial cluster is the result of the revolution. So, are there inner connection between auto industrial cluster and flexible production? How does revolution of production method make use during the evolvement of spatial organization of auto industrial cluster? These are the core problems which will be discussed in this paper.Analytic methods of deduction and theory of industrial organization, economic geography, regional economics and management science are used to study the forming of the auto industry cluster and flexibility deeply, and the example of Toyota city in Japan is used to explain the above research results. In the end, the conclusions we get are: the development of the auto industry clusters need to go through four stages: from the enterprise group to dispersed enterprise network, to industry agglomeration, and then to industry clusters. From enterprise to enterprise network, the flexible production leads to exterior change of inner production of enterprise group by the method of reconstruction of supply chain and resultant forming of dispersed enterprise network; From enterprise network to agglomeration, the flexible production decreases the production and transportation cost and the trade cost between enterprises and drives dispersed enterprises to agglomeration in a district; From agglomeration to cluster, the flexible production prompt the development of cooperation between enterprises, and these enterprises form a flexible localized enterprise network based in cooperation to deal with the changing market demand.The spatial revolution of auto industry is closely related to changing of production method, flexible production drives the forming process of auto industrial cluster.
