As a new organization style, the number of strategic alliances increased sharply. However, many strategic alliances failed at last. The Stabilities of strategic alliances have been examined in the literature through a number of theoretical approaches. In Das&Teng's opinion, strategic alliance is a system which can be viewed as being constituted by three key pairs of competing forces-namely, cooperation versus competition, rigidity versus flexibility, and short-term versus long-term orientation. We reviewed Das&Teng's papers , and concentrated on the conflict between short-term and long-term orientation. We tried to analyze whether the conflict was balanced. In order to achieve it, we reviewed many relative papers, and consulted from the experts to construct a system to evaluate the short-term and long-term orientation. In this research, we sent out questionnaires widely, then we evaluated the conflicts of the force by factor analysis with SPSS. After that, we analyzed the correlations between the conflict and alliances' stability. Then, as Das&Teng said, we find out that the stability of strategic alliances is inversely related to the difference between the short-term and the long-term orientation level. Finally, based on the conclusion of theoretic and empirical research, we proposed some methods to strengthen the stability of alliance.
