A Study Of CSR By Multinational Corporations In China

This paper mainly discusses the situation and the problems of CSR by multinational corporations in China. Through reading"statistic table of CSR by multinational corporations in China in 2006", this paper finds that there are serious problems in the corporate social responsibility by multinational corporations in China. To this point, this paper begins to study the problems of corporate social responsibility by multinational corporations in China.The paper bases on the theory of CSR by multinational corporations to study CSR by multinational corporations. After analyzing the situation of investment and business by multinational corporations in China, this paper points out that multinational corporations make fully use of various advantageous resources in China and favorable policies for multinational corporations given by our government, so they should strictly fulfill the corresponding social responsibility. But the actual situation is that the situation of fulfilling CSR by multinational corporations in china is bad. Through reading the relevant data, we find that there are serious problems of multinational corporations in violations of the legitimate rights and interests of employees, transferring pollution to China, bribing and tax evasion, restricting competition and so on. Finally, this paper presents the relevant countermeasures to the existing problems of CSR by multinational corporations.This paper uses the research methods of combination with qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis. First it explores the relevant theory of CSR by multinational corporations with qualitative analysis. Secondly, it explains the current situation of CSR by multinational corporations in china through quantitative analysis method.In accordance with the above said thoughts and research methods, this paper mainly discusses the following questions and has obtained the relevant findings:First, through reading the relevant data, this paper finds that the current situation of CSR by multinational corporations in china is not well.Second, facing the problems of CSR by multinational corporations in china, this paper discovers that china's relevant laws and policies left place for multinational corporations to evade the CSR.Third, in view of the evasion by multinational corporations from fulfilling CSR, our country should strengthen the construction of relevant laws and regulations, and also should intensify enforcement efforts of laws.Therefore this paper is structured like this:Chapter one is the theory overview on CSR undertaken by multinational corporations. This chapter gives this thesis theory support by mainly studying the theory basis and reality requirement of CRS undertaken by multinational corporations. Based on the above, this thesis constructively proposes the CSR's scope in which multinational corporations should undertake.Chapter two is the important part of this paper. The first part of chapter two analyzes the situation for multinational corporations'making use of various advantageous resources and favorable policies when they invest and do business in our country. The purpose is to explain that multinational corporations have absorbed enough nutrients in our country. Second part of chapter two gives an overall analysis of the current situation study of the social responsibility undertaken by multinational corporations in China. Third part of chapter two analyzes the detailed problems of multinational corporations'undertaking social responsibility.Chapter three is the empirical certification of the above conclusion. This chapter first supposes that multinational corporations evade CSR in China. Than it use the empirical research to prove the supposition is true by doing the questionnaire survey. In addition, the paper also gets that the degree of cognition and requirement of CSR by consumer is relevantly high.Chapter four analyzes the causes for the problem when multinational corporations undertake CSR in China from three aspects by law, policy, and economy. The cause for policy mainly means the favorable policies provided by our government in order to attract foreign capital. Causes for economy mainly includes the infringement of chinese employees'legal rights; the serious quality problem of the commodities and services; the pollution diversion problem; the gone out of line behavior in environment protection; the bribe problem; the tax evasion problem; the random use of market and intelligent property advantage; the competition-limiting problem and the monopolization suspicion problem. Chapter five provides suggestions from two aspects: the legal and policy.Legally suggestions are to strengthen the legally construction on employees'rights protection; to strengthen the supervision and sanction of monopolization and competition-limiting behavior of multinational corporations; to construct a complete set of legal system for merger and acquisition; to perfect the laws regarding environment protection. Policy suggestions are: government should actively promote the consciousness of corporation social responsibility and guide multinational corporations to initiatively undertake social responsibility.The main contribution of this article lies in:First, in view of the more and more FDI, many scholars and entrepreneurs have an agreement that multinational corporations play a positive role in the economy development of china. The author of this paper discusses the negative influence of multinational corporations in the angle of CSR by multinational corporations in china. It has certain practical significance for us to understand multinational corporations comprehensively.Second, this article obtains the investigation data of"Rank of the 500 Strength Enterprises in China"from "South Weekend", Based on the investigation data. I work out the"statistic table of corporate social responsibility undertaken by multinational corporations in China in2006". And then I statistically analyze the current situation of the multinational corporation'CSR.Third, This chapter first supposes that multinational corporations evade CSR in China. Than it use the empirical research to prove the supposition is true by doing the questionnaire survey.This paper has two insufficients:Firstly, the domestic research on CSR by multinational corporations is in the initial stage, various cases and information is less. Therefore is lack of case analysis.Secondly, as it is lack of the foreign data of CSR by multinational corporations, this paper can not make a qualitative judgment for the CSR by multinational corporations in china.
