Rural tourism in China begins from 1980s and develops at the late 1990s.The development of economics, revenue, living standards, and consumer structure pushes the needs of holiday making. From 1995, 'the golden week' and the increase of private cars give the birth of rural tourism. The development of rural tourism can also be the solution of the problems of farmers, villages and agriculture.The basic method applied in this thesis is comparative analysis. At the same time,field work method has also been used. Moreover the author do researches by interview and obveration. Today, the cities of China expand very fast. Therefore,that is to do research on Mulan mountain on the basis of interviews and observations. Then based on the facts the author compares Mulan mountain in China with rural areas in South East England so as to find new approaches on the development of rural areas in China.First, the objectives of researches are introduced along with new ideas, new theories, and research modes both at home and abroad. This thesis also point out problems in rural tourism development.Second, this thesis introduces the basic concept and theory of rural tourism, and analyzes the influential factors of rural tourism.Third, this thesis analyzes the phrase of Rural tourism in China because of the difference in economic development and introduces along "Nongjiale" in Chengdu,Mingshu mode in Taiwan. Then it emphasizes on the Mulan rural area in Wuhan as a case study and do profound research on it.Fourth, this thesis takes Mulan rural area in Wuhan as an example and concludes the mode (Tourist Planning Composite System) of rural areas in South East England.Sixth, absorbing the successful planning in South East England and Proposing many new approaches on improving rural tourism in China.At last, conclusions and outlook are presented.
