Since China has a small-scale agricultural history of five thousand years in which farmers play the primary role, the recognition and knowledge of small-scale agricultural economy is very important. After the classical theories like Marx' theory on exploitation of small peasants, Chayanov's on existence of small peasants, Huang zongzhi's on commodity of small peasants, Schultz'on competition of small farmers etc., which were constructed before the foundation of PRC, a theoretic frame on socialized small farmer has been put forward by professor Xu Yong and professor Deng Dacai in the hope of better analysis of the existing state and behavior motivation of current farmer households. This article guided by the theory of socialized small farmer, taking farmers raising chickens in new countryside as the breakthrough point, makes an analysis of a case on new countryside during three different periods of traditional small peasant economy, planning small peasant economy and socialized small peasant economy, in order to know the existing state and behavior motivation of farmer households in different periods and to observe the evolvement of Chinese small peasant status and the changes of small peasant economy and society.During the course of research, more emphases are put both on the features of traditional small peasant, planning small peasant and socialized small peasant in different stages and on the logic hidden in the interaction between raising chickens and politics, traditional culture, commodity market, rural economy and farmer households. The analysis on the evolvement of history is certainly to serve the present and the future. Therefore, the aim of this paper falls on the analysis of socialized small-scale farmer's behavior of raising chickens.
