As the global trade becomes more and more frequent ,marine business has also obtained steady developments during the past ten years. Since the mid-1990s,as a new round of capacity expansion ,supply exceeds demand in the shipping market and competition grows more and more vehement.Its diffcult for the management of shipping copany. The profit of most shipping company get little even to the bad. In recent years,container ship gets larger and larger .yet in the vehement container shipping market ,the increase of goods is limited,lead the use of container company slot is very low. To improve this situation ,shipping company associate with others use the mode of accommodation exchange,mutual accommodation rent even buy accommodation to reduce the pressure of carry on operation and expand service area. Under union circumstances,the line lays of major liner companies change route structure into network structure. How to use the line network and search appropriate delivery routing for contains of each port pairs in order to achieve smallest costs or most profit, this problem is container routing problem.On the basis of analyzing the main characters of container routing problem referring to the depending on personal experience actuality of container routing of China shipping companies. A stochastic programming model was established for selection of container shipping routes, Author put forward an effective way of handling uncertain data in the models.The structure of this paper is as follows: First: introduce the social background of the container routing problem, expatiate the main cause, theory value and practical meaning of studying this problem and analyze the research status in quo of the problem. Second chapter: describe the actuality ,characters and development trend of the container shipping transportation. Third chapter: based on the analysis of the development trend and characters of the liner industry, the paper point out the union of shipping company is reasonable and necessary from economics and management. Fourth chapter: a stochastic programming model was established for selection of container shipping routes. The maximum profit of transportation was taken as target function, and the major constraints include the limitations due to the capacities of a route section and shipping capacity of carriers, and demands on loaded and empty containers. The demands on loaded containers are stochastic. Chance restrict programming plan is used to solve the problem. Fifth chapter: author gave simulations to the container routing problem models using Matlab. Simulation was conducted to validate the feasibility of the model and find out the internal rules of the container routing selection system by sensitivity analysis.In conclusion, the present dissertation may benefit our logistic management in a practical and throretical way. Theoretically, the maximum profit of transportation was taken as target function in the model and randomicity was fully considered of the container routing problem. Practically,the present conclusion may contribute some useful ideas to the daily management, dispatch and routing planning for liner shipping companies.
