While mobile data service becomes more abundant and complicated in China market, mobile operation increasingly relies on the mobile phones. As a vehicle for mobile user to access data services, mobile phone becomes an essential element of carrier's operation infrastructure. China Mobile and mobile phone manufacturers are all endeavoring to improve remote device management capability in a more efficient and effective catalyst.The author was the organizer of China Mobile's Device Management feasibility study, solution design, specification, and the entire project implementation process. This research paper is based on all these information. In this paper, author tries to address MDM basic concept, definition, use cases, as well as case study of foreign carriers MDM deployments. Further, this paper analyzes MDM service value chain, SWOT, business model, ROI, and marketing strategy. Finally, the paper also describes the operation result since China Mobile MDM system commences live network operation.In a nutshell, MDM is proven solution for mobile carriers.
