It shows obvious imbalance between regions in the rapid development of Chinese catering industry. What factors determine the strength of regional catering industry competitiveness?Using regional economics, industry economics, competitiveness theory, knowledge of catering industry and a variety of research methods to research the factors of regional catering industry competitiveness, based on the research of literature.Firstly, study hard on the related concepts of competitiveness, and conclude that regional catering industry competitiveness refers to the force of the catering enterprises of certain a region when compete with the catering enterprises of other regions. That also means the catering industry of certain a region can provide catering products and services to the market more efficiently than the catering industry of other regions.Secondly, comprehensively analyze the researches of regional industrial competitiveness and its factors at home and abroad, and then introduce the theories related with this thesis.Thirdly, based on certain principles, the factors of regional catering industry competitiveness can be divided into phenomenal factors and intrinsic factors. The intrinsic factors can be further divided into external factors and internal factors. And then get the conclusion that state of demand, the role of government, regional industrial structure, production elements, the quality of enterprises and industrial organization are the decisive factors of the strength of regional catering industry competitiveness.Finally, take Canton as an example, which has the strongest competitiveness of catering industry in Guangdong Province. Beginning with the analysis of the present development of Canton's catering industry, and then analyze the six factors of Canton's catering industry with comparison comprehensively, which verify the conclusion of regional catering industry competitiveness in the third part of this thesis.
