Measurement And Comparison Of Financial Competitiveness In The West 12 Provinces And Cities(Area)

China is in the process of establishing the economic system of the Socialist market. As one of the subsystems of the national economy, regional economy has become a key issue in this process. However, China faces the problem of unbalanced development of the regional economy which has drawn government's attention. In order to solve the problem the central government carried out the strategy of west development. Finance as a key element to economy growth directly affects the development of regional economy and must be given to a high concern in the process of evaluating the regional economic competitiveness. Lots of researches find that there is a high positive relationship between regional financial competitiveness and regional general competitiveness, and this positive relationship tends to become stronger and stronger as the finance become more and more impotent in the national economy. Economic development needs the support of finance. Using the theories of regional economics, finance, comparative economics, and this paper defines the concept of regional financial competitiveness. Taking the financial resources sustainable use and the development as the principle, it also constructs the regional financial competitiveness evaluation indices according to China's financial resources and financial characteristics of the development stage. Taking the factor of time into account, we estimated potential as well as realistic finance competitiveness. Following these thoughts, we can construct a proper indicators system which can evaluate regional financial competitiveness exactly and perfectly. By application of the principal component analysis, we have estimated finance competitiveness of twelve provinces and municipality in the west of China. Finally, proposed various local enhancement finance competitive ability basic direction and the suggestion.
