International Political And Economic Analysis On Arms Trade

The international arms trade is very complicated, though it also follows the rules of normal merchandise trade. On one hand, as an indirect military instrumentality widely used among countries, arms trade develops a special function in the aspects of adjusting multilateral relations, ameliorating strategic situations, counterpoising military forces. It has an important meaning of diplomacy, politics, and military affairs. On the other hand, as one of the most profitable businesses in the world, arms trade has great significance in promoting economic benefits and defense industry. Proceeding from the excessive considerations of economy, politics, diplomacy, and military affairs, it is really a hard work to establish a comprehensive model to analyses the relations between independent variables and dependent variables adequately.The article firstly documents and analyses the development and characteristics of arms trade in different historic stages. After that, theories from two subjects—Economics and International Politics—are used to analyses arms trade from different points of view in the next chapter. Based on the trends of future international economy and politics, the following part of the article makes a judgment of characters that future arms trade may appear. Being a big country in the East, China hasn't got the military strength commensurate with its regional and international influence. So it is very important for China to participate in world arms trade actively. It's helpful to close the military-technological gap which has long separated China from the other major powers. In the end of the article, there are several advices for China to participate in the world trade rationally.
