A Study On The Costumes And Adornments Of Women In The Tang Dynasty

The adornments and costumes of women in Tang Dynasty is very prosperous, due to unified country, stable society, prosperous economy, and progressive cultural life, which made people longing for better life and beauty a very important part of their life and enhanced the prosperity of the Tang women's adornments and costumes. In addition, Tang women paid close attention to how they looked. The study on Tang women's adornments and costumes, which not only can make us have a more all-round cognition to women adornments and beauty, but also can make us know distinctive women's special life view and esthetic sense. The whole thesis is divided into four parts to discuss Tang women's adornments costumes. The first part is talks about the hair styles of the Tang women, Tang women's hair styles costumes development took on different characters respectively in early, prosperous, middle and late Tang; the second part is describes the Tang women's facial make-up ; the third part is summarizes the characteristics and reason of the Tang women's cosmetic adornments and costumes: representing the stratification of the society, representing the times, regionally, combining the practical use and the aesthetic conception,and the elements that formed the fashion and styles of the Tang women's costumes and cosmetic adornments in four aspects: the society economy, the social features of the Tang, the women's status, the men's aesthetic standards and the orientation of the ruling. In conclusion, it points out that the Tang Dynasty is the highest period in the history of Chinese women's costumes and cosmetic adornments and the Tang women's costumes. Studying Tang women's adornments costumes, which can know more profoundly esthetic culture's whole development process in the Tang Dynasty , and at the same time it can provide directive effect for women's adornments in the nowadays.
