With the coming of the knowledge economy age, tourism industry, enjoying the names of "non-smoking industry" and "eternal sun-risingindustry", has been a new economy growth industry in the current world. Itranks in the top list of the world 3 biggest industries, paralleled with oilindustry and car industry. Thus tourism industry will play a more and moreimportant role in the national economy. Benefiting from the implementationof the west development, tourism has a bigger proportion in the westernregion's economy year by year. Inner Mongolia autonomous region also havean unprecedented development recently. However, people found souvenirsindustry in Mongol unsatisfactory: similar products, unitary variety, deficientof art taste, lacking of local colors and folk customs, and shortage of talentsspecialized in research and designation, all of the above weaknesses get inthe way of the improvement of the tourism souvenirs. On the whole, peopledo not have a comprehensive stand to know about and treat the designation ofMongolian souvenirs.Researches on Mongolian history, human culture, nature andenvironment are the preconditions to know about and discover Mongolianfolk customs' connotation. To fundamentally enhance its souvenirs' art tasteand create more characteristics, we must blend Mongolian folk customs in itsdesignation. This essay explains the idea of increasing Mongolian folkcustoms' content in souvenirs mainly from 3 aspects. First of all, the authorargues on the formation and development of the culture of Mongolian folkcustoms as well as its composition elements, values, nation spirits, itssymbols and the fundamental characters. Second, the necessity of such anenhancement is also discussed~ The author at the same time lists thesouvenirs' economy values, current conditions and the ideas of solving the current problems. Third, the essay touches upon why and how to inherit theMongolian folk customs in Mongolian travel souvenirs and why we shouldcarry it forward. Furthermore, the author puts forward the notion of "threedimensions" in the designation of the Mongolian souvenirs. The main characters of souvenirs are rich of art values, using values, andto some extent, collection values. They greatly meet the tourists' desire ofknowing about the local culture. The designation of the souvenirs should bestudied together with folk customs as a whole. We should refine and rebuildthe traditional culture by using the modern aesthetical views, modern designmethods. Combining the folk customs' traditional elements with modernaesthetical views, the designers should use the "3 dimensional" concepts tocreate souvenirs rich of folk features, local characters, and the connotation ofMongolian folk customs, at the same time, increase the folk customs' content.More importantly, souvenirs with high additional values can be produced insuch a way.We should clearly noticed tourism products without culture content cannot be real souvenirs. It's impossible to achieve a great breakthrough in thisfield if people fail to notice it. As for this question, what we need to study isthe trend for tourism products and its developing rules, and what we shouldemphasize is the theory basis for the souvenirs designation, developingstrategies, manufactory process and materials. Producing more and bettertourism goods which meet the demands of tourists can not only reflectMongolia's natural and cultural characteristics with which high aestheticalvalues are created, but also can contribute a lot to activate our local tourismcommodity market, help the development of tourism economy, and build agood image.
