Uighur is common ancestor of the modern national minorities of the Uighur and Yugur.The ancients' history may trace pre-Qin period. they started to mount the historical arena independently as national community, with a formidable military force in 7-8 century. They built the khanate of uighur in Mongolia. The khanate of uighur established and to grow strong gradually in the process of revolting against the Turk's rule. They do not have the fixed residence and lived along with luxuriant water and plants. The main body of social economy is husbandry in pasture. As a result of the relation enhancement with Tang Dynasty, uighur's social economy was received the influence by the area in south of Yellow River increasingly, such as changing the production and the style of life along with above. Namely, from living in pasture to settle down, from husbandry in pasture to the trade, appeared the embryonic form of agriculture.In AD 840, they move westward under the Pang Teller's leadership. Among them one Moved to the present Turpan area, and established the Co?o uighur Kingdom in AD 866 Uighur political power include period of Five Dynasties, Song Dynasty and Western Liao Dynasty to the middle of the Yuan Dynasty. In this long historical process, not only has created the high material civilization and the spiritual civilization, but also has completed restructuring and the conformity of social economy and culture in Uighur.The Turpan area which was the agricultural area since the ancient times, we may say that special environment in the Turpan area has provided a broad demonstration space for the Uighur person in the adverse circumstance at that time. With the dry climate and the small amount of rainfall, the agriculture depends entirely on the water conservation irrigation. The Uighur paid much attention to the water conservation, excavation in kinds of water resources to satisfy the need of the agricultural production. Because of the complete water conservation irrigation system, Turpan attained five kinds of grain, including grain crops of wheat, barley, paddy rice, corn, legumes crops and cotton, watermelon, grape, Hami melon, sesame seed and so on. The agricultural development promoted the handicraft industry which was provided raw material by the rich products correspondingly. The production structure of Agriculture, the animal husbandry and the handicraft industry, had the enormous vigor in the ancient times for supplement and promote mutually. Not only has enriched people's material life, but also impelled the commercial prosperity and the city development.
