Research On Industrial Cluster And Vertical Specialization Of China's Textile And Apparel Industry

Since the later period in 1990s, the agglomeration phenomenon of Chinese manufacturing industry had been gradually obvious, different kinds of industrial clusters developed rapidly, and the industrial cluster pattern had been one of the important strengths which promoted the economic development of our country. Meanwhile, as the process of the economic globalization speed up, the vertical separation appears in the manufacturing industry of the world, there are plenty of intermediate goods which largely change the international division of labor, one of these manifestations is vertical specialization which is the specialization between the production of the labor intensive process or accessory and the production of capital/technology knowledge intensive process or accessory. The vertical specialization of all over the world leads to the aggravation of domestic specialization regional specialization will accelerate the agglomeration of the accessory or final product and also bring about different kinds of industrial cluster.At first, this paper study the developement of industrial clusters and the internal mechanism of the division of labor, specialization and industrial cluster evolution from the vertical specialization perspective, From three aspects—the product cost, market demand and technological innovation to describe the relationship between Industrial Cluster and vertical specialization。Then taking China's textile and apparel industry as example to do empirical analysis:using methord of value-added measures vertical specialization, with the size of the market index and industrial specialization index to measure the degree of concentration, and estimating the average size enterprises of the textile and apparel industry of various provinces, reached the market size and specialization index are stronger, vertical specialization is greater, which verified the correctness of the theoretical analysis.Then analyzing the development of the textile and garment industry according to the empirical results, pointing out the problem of China's textile and garment industry, and proposing solutions. Finally, it is a brief summary of the paper.
