Management of spare parts in manufacturing consists one of the important parts of enterprise industry equipment management, including the deduction of costs and the decrease in repertory capital on the prerequisite of guaranteeing producing activity. This type of activity has direct impact upon equipment maintenance as well as regular and emergent repair work, all of which are closely related with the manufacturing schedule and overall profit. Holding the large quantity of equipments, middle and large sized manufacturers belong to the type that requires a considerable consumption of non-producing materials, whose demands on spare parts are not that regular and often unpredictable. It is especially true for the tobacco trade that demands strictly the continuous functioning of equipment, hence more strictly upon the attainability of spare parts. A mere increase in inventory amount would probably takes a great part of the capital, while a sheer decrease would result in a serious vacancy, making it unable to replace the damaged parts and more severely, causing a stop in production and herewith unpredictable loss. This article elaborates on the theory of label management, forecasting techniques on wastage and also inventory theory dealing with spare part management. Then it dwells upon the entire process and works on an optimized result based on a detailed analysis of the case in Shanghai Tobacco Corp.
