The Materials Control Technology Of Vendor Managed Inventory

With acuter of world market competition, more and more enterprises have applied Supply Chain Management strategy to increase their own competitiveness. The important part of Supply Chain Management is inventory management. The Supply Chain Management requires every supply chain members to co-operate and share information, to cut down the cost across the entire supply chain and to increase competitiveness.Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) is a new inventory management strategy in Supply Chain Management, which consists of material inventory management and product inventory management. The research of this thesis focuses on material inventory management. Material inventory normally locates in the upstream enterprises of the supply chain. This thesis first starts with the analysis of the material characteristics at VMI and the calculation logic of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPⅡ). Based on MRPⅡ, a new material-delivery model for VMI is proposed. Secondly, with the application of Just-In-Time (JIT) for VMI, new income-material model and outcome-material model for VMI based on JIT are developed. Subsequently, by combining the need of MRPⅡand JIT, this study develops the models of Centre Vendor Managed Inventory (CVMI) and Ship-to-Line (STL). An optimal cost model for VMI is developed as well.Finally, the above developed methods and models are verified with the application of the material control for VMI at an industrial company.
