A Study On The Evolution Of China's Export Commodities Structure

After China's rapid growth of foreign trade for about 25years and its entry into WTO, its transformation of foreign trade structure is becoming an important issue in academic research. Based on the Comparative Advantage Theory and H-O Theory ,this paper first makes an empirical study of China's foreign trade structure by applying Revealed Comparative Advantage(RCA) Index and conclude that China's export structure at present is characterized by labor intensive goods and capital-technology intensive shall have comparative disadvantage from now to the near future in China although its ratio is rising in the recent years. Meanwhile, this paper analyses the function mechanism between the structure of foreign trade and industrial structure .Also, it analyses the present situation and summarizes the character and tendency of the change in industrial structure and the structure of foreign trade in our country. Finally, it discusses the strategy and paths of China's transformation of foreign trade structure. It argues that structure transformation should be base on not only the static comparative advantage but also the dynamic ones, to achieve which requires integrating innate comparative advantages with acquired ones and promoting the evolution of comparative advantage and the transformation of trade structure with technological progress.One of the characteristics of this paper is to use a mass data on China's foreign trade to take demonstration research both in quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis and find out the evolution rule and influencing factors on export commodities structure.
