The Interactive Effects Research Between The Taiyuan’s Export Commodities Structure And The Industrial Structure

Taiyuan is a capital city of Shanxi Province that is the first national pilot zone forresource-based economic overall reform. Before1978, Taiyuan has become China’sindustrial center through developing its own advantages of coal resources, threeindustrial structures in the proportion of secondary industry was as high as75%, theindustry accounted for88%. Taiyuan based on its own advantages to develop coal andrelated industries which has played a huge role in promoting Taiyuan’s economicdevelopment. Coke, metallurgical, electric power and other industries with competitiveadvantages around the basic coal expansion, industrial products belong on the resourcesstructure and primary processing products. Since1978, Taiyuan’s foreign trade hasmade great achievements. In1995, the state gives the Taiyuan independent foreign traderights, after decades of development, Taiyuan’s export trade has made considerableprogress, the amount of export in1996is0.8billion dollars, which increased66times,export trade in2013is52.95billion dollars. The focus of export commodities structurehas changed from primary products to manufactured products, but in recent years thedevelopment of electromechanical and high-tech exports are booming. With thedevelopment of Taiyuan’s foreign trade, export commodities structure has beenoptimized. According to the theory:export commodities structure is compatible with itsindustrial structure, Taiyuan’s export commodities structure optimization to promote theoptimization of industrial structure, and make Taiyuan’s industrial structure in “three、two、 one”. Although the proportion of tertiary industry in the Taiyuan nationaleconomy is higher than the first、second industry, Taiyuan’s tertiary industry is still atthe low level stage, modern service industry is not developed, technical content is nothigh. Nowadays, the world economy has entered a period of low growth, China’seconomy has entered a “new normal” period, we must face the important issue: how toimprove Taiyuan’s export commodities structure and realize transformation andupgrading of industrial structure. So this article applies for an empirical analysis toresearch the correlation of Taiyuan’s export commodities structure and industrialstructure. Through the study of this issue, it could provide policy suggestions forTaiyuan’s export trade strategy and transformation and upgrading of industrial structure.Domestic and foreign scholars for the foreign trade and industrial structure has been studied for a long time and have achieved certain results, and the research aboutrelationship between the foreign trade and industrial structure were many, the researchis mainly from the perspective of national or provincial, from the perspective of city tostudy is scarcely. The focus of this article is to study the relation between the Taiyuan’sexport commodities structure and the industrial structure.This article is based on the theory of foreign trade and industry structure, andcombined with the actual situation of Taiyuan, through using the econometric analysismethod: co-integration and Granger causality test to research the relationship betweenTaiyuan export commodities structure and industrial structure, which made an empiricalanalysis that：Labor intensive exports are the Granger causality of the structure of threeindustries, the structure of three industries are the Granger causality of labor intensiveexports. Resource-intensive exports are the Granger causality of the first industries, inturn, this relationship can set up. Capital and technology-intensive exports are theGranger causality of the secondary and tertiary industries, in turn, this relationship canset up. Industrial structure optimization is helpful for the improvement of the exportcommodities structure. Optimizing the structure of export commodities is conducive tothe development of secondary and tertiary industries. Finally, policy recommendationswhich are separately provided to improve export commodities structure and optimizethe structure of industrial, make Taiyuan’s aim achieve.The innovation of this paper is to select a different angle with the previous studies,which from the city to study the relationship between export commodities structure andindustrial structure, in model checking is the use of different testing methods, butbecause my ability is limited, in the process of paper writing, relative theory is not deepunderstand, data subject to availability restrictions. So in the future study and work, Iwill further enrich the relevant information, to deepen study of related theories,constantly improve the study about the relationship of the export commodity structureand the industrial structure.
