Evaluation Of Energy Resource Utilization And Sustainable Development

Since the reform and open, China has been developing in a rapid rate. The economy and the quality of people's life are steadily increasing, so is the international position of the country. However, the great development comes with a price. The natural resource has been over exploited and consumed. The ecological environment is being destroyed and the country is confronted with the serious situation of pollution. The limited resources will cause the pressure on economic development. This will lead to the contradiction between the increase of economy and both society and the ecology. Moreover, the augment of population will also challenge the equity of human rights. As the energy resource pressure makes great obstacle to the development of China, sustainable development becomes the only solution of problem solving.Energy resource sets the important material foundation for social economy development. Its sustainable utilization is playing a key role in achieving sustainable development. Our special country realities and the long-term developing model result in a particular relationship between the sustainable utilization and sustainable development. Therefore, this dissertation was drafted to evaluate the energy resource utilization and its sustainable development from a perspective of economical statistics. It also focused on their important performances. The aim was to facilitate the sustainable utilization of our country's energy resource, and also to accelerate the sustainable development process of the economy, the society and the environment.The research was conducted based on the literature review both from domestic and overseas. The dissertation combined the theory of sustainable development and its evaluation methods, measuring the level of China's energy resource sustainability by related indexes. It came up with the integrated relationship between energy resource utilization and the three sub-systems of society, economy and environment. Additionally, it also proposed the four requirements of sustainable development to energy resource utilization. Then an empirical analysis was taken for the resource utilization and sustainable subsystem, and four evaluation standards were suggested for energy resource utilization. It made a comprehensive evaluation on the sustainability of our country's energy utilization with information entropy. At last, conclusion was given and suggestions were made.The research results showed that although China was persevering on the strategy of sustainable development, the situation remained worrying. The requirements of sustainable development were not satisfied in a large extent. Specially, urgent improvement was needed in the contradiction of energy resource structure, the energy and polluted environment and the effectiveness of energy utilization. Therefore, much more effort should be invested in changing the situation of the energy resource utilization of China. In pursuing the goal of sustainable development, it still has a long way to go.
