East Asia, as the region with the fastest economic growth in the world, has always been the focus of attention of the academic community. The"Flying-Geese Model"was once thought the optimal theory which could reasonably explain the rapid economic growth in East Asia. Since the 1990s, Japan's role as"leading goose"and the"Flying-Geese Model"have been weakened due to Japan's slack domestic economy and the fast catching -up of the newly industrialized economies and China. However, East Asia as a whole still remained dynamic growth. So what is the new engine of the region's economic growth? At the meanwhile, with the rapid development of vertical specialization in the East Asia, China has been continuously promoting its position in the regional production networks and has become an important driver of growing export of other East Asian economies. From this point, this thesis examines the promotion of the trade position of China in the region vertical specialization background and its effect of stimulating the economic growth of East Asian economies through rapidly growing import from them.On the basis of summarizing the theories and literatures regarding the relationship between export and economic growth, the thesis first examines the relationship between export and economic growth in East Asia and testifies that the economic growth of this region still has significant"export-oriented"characteristics. After that, given the rapid development of vertical specialization, the author studies its influence on the trade pattern of East Asia and the conversion of China's role in the new type of regional production networks and trade pattern. Finally, the thesis combines East Asian economies'export to China with their economic growth to analyze China's positive effect on region's economic growth. In this part, the author further divides the manufactured goods into final goods and intermediate goods such as components & parts with the intention of analyzing china's role in driving East Asia economic growth separately as an"independent engine"and a"conduit"by increasingly import these two kinds of products from other East Asian economies.
