Study On The Relationship Between Socio-economic Growth And Land Use Structure In Different Geographic Regions

Land use change means that human-being's direct and indirect activities on land make land structure and land characteristics changed in one region. The driving mechanism of land use change plays a key role to explain thus change of land use, therefore the main socio-economic driving forces and feedback mechanism of land use become the research focus in recent years.Based on land use change data of Qianxi County(Hilly Area), Changli County(Coastal Plain area), Qingyuan County(Piedmont Plain Areas), Zhangbei County(Bashang Highland Area) form 1999 to 2006, the dissertation studies the changes of land use structure in above regions from temporal aspect and utilization degree aspect, and identifies the driving force of the changes in land use structure by means of SAS, and then compares the influence exerted by socio-economic growth on land use structure in different geographic regions.The research results can be concluded as follows:(1) Based on the analysis of three indicators-the contribution rate to land use structure change, intensity index of land use change, and velocity of land use change, the dominant land types of land use change of the research units are identified. To a certain extend, the changes of land use structure in different geographic regions possess similarity, such as obvious area change of cultivated land, and simultaneously have their respective characteristics.(2)Based on the analysis a conclusion can be made that there is a remarkable difference in land use degree in above four typical regions. Coastal Plain Area is in the highest level of land use degree; Piedmont Plain Area is in the stable stage of development; and the land uses in Hilly Area and Bashang Highland Area are relatively inactive and in a stage of adjustment.(3)After the research on driving forces of the land use change in above four counties, it is noticeable that both the changes of land use structure and the economic factors which induce such changes are different. On the whole, the amount of cultivated land in all above four regions is reducing, while the amount of construction land is increasing. In Hilly Area that kind of change is impacted mainly by demographic factor, Coastal Plain Area and Bashang Highland Area by economic factors, and Piedmont Plain Area by economic factors and demographic factors.(4)finally, on the basis of above research and analysis, some countermeasures and suggestions about sustainable utilization of land resources are proposed from population, economic development, industrial structure and other aspects.
