With the financial globalization, rapid flowing of international capital and the transformation of state system, a large number of non-performing assets has been occurred in banks system not only in developed and developing countries but also in countries which have been transformated their economic system since 1980s. The problem of non-performing assets has got more attention all over the world especially since the finance crisis in South-east Asia. Our country commercial bank accumulating the massive non-performing assets, is one of the banking industry's main risks, has formed huge financial hidden danger in the national economy development, and is the difficulty of deepening the economical reform. Therefore, how to dissolute the non-performing assets of commercial bank effectively becomes the popular topic from all walks of people in our society.To dissolute the non-performing assets of state-owned commercial banks, Chinese government and the China's banking regulatory committee (CBRC) have taken a lot of measures, among which the most meaningful one is setting up the Assets Management Companies (MAC).In 1999 China established four financial AMC named XinDa, Huarong, DongFang, and ChangCheng, to accept and deal with 14,00 billions non-performing assets that stripped from four state-owned commercial banks. In recent years,, by using various kinds of measure synthetically, the problem of non-performing assets of state-owned bank has already made a certain degree progress, but the result is not so good as we expected.In this thesis, the author explores the reasons and current situation of non-performing assets in Chinese state-owned commercial Banks, and analyzes the influence of non-performing assets on Chinese economy system. The author pays special attention to international experiences on disposition of non-performing assets, thus making the suggestions to Chinese state-owned commercial banks on the disposition of its non-performing assets.
