The Tobacco House Industry And Its Living Conditions In Opium Prohibiting Campaign In Sichuan Area

At mid-1930s,Sichuan area as a big base happened a large-scale of Opium Prohibiting Campaign. The objective is to purification of the population and Improve the quality of people in Sichuan,than develop the production and provided manpower resources, healthy young men and war materiels for Anti-Japanese War which lasts for 8 years. In the Opium Prohibiting Campaign in Sichuan, Tobacco House Industry played a very important role and become the major obstacles in Opium Prohibiting Campaign. especially in the latter part of an anti-smoking campaign. In order to avoid long and complex paper, this paper is divided into three chapters:In Chapter 1, This article discusses the history of opium in Sichuan area and the rise of Tobacco House Industry. Because of opium was planted everywhere, there are more and more people who smoke the opium. The opium market was formed and the Tobacco House Industry rised quickly. Berore People's Republic of China, Sichuan was ruled by Warlords which's feature is area+army+ revenue of opium,so the revenue of Tobacco House Industry is very important. Encouraged by the Warlords, Tobacco House Industry became a Leading Industry in Sichuan.In Chapter 2, This article discusses the operation and social role of Tobacco House Industry. As a leading industry of Sichuan's economy, Tobacco House Industry had its own operating rules. In the first part of chapter 2,this paper described the revenue of Tobacco House Industry and tremendous contribution to Sichuan's economy. As an independent commercial forces, Tobacco House Industry linked with all aspect of society.
