Aiming at the newly-introduced Magotan project in FAW-VW, based on the product development system of Volkswagen AG in Germany and current project management system of FAW-VW, using the relevant theories and tools of the time control of project, the thesis makes a thorough analysis for the development process of Magotan project, which optimizes the time plan of the project activities and facilitates sufficient and effective control for the project process. Simultaneously, it put forwards quite amount of future-oriented proposals basis on the analysis of current status of project management of FAW-VW and other domestic car manufactures.The main contents of the thesis consist of 3 sections:The first section is the introduction of theories and tools for project management and time plan management, by which we can have a systematic and comprehensive understanding for project management and time plan control. The knowledge of this analysis tools and methods is especially helpful for the concrete project analysis in backwards in the text.The second section is mainly the introduction of general overview of FAW-VW, project management system of FAW-VW and Magotan project. This section mainly introduces the product development process, milestone setting and controls of time plan in Volkswagen AG. Combining the situation in FAW-VW, the thesis hereby put forwards the project management system and process in FAW-VW.The third section makes analysis for each activity of Magotan project and its corresponding output for each period, using the related theories and tools of project management. At the same time, according to the implement of Magotan project, the thesis summarizes the project management of FAW-VW and analyses the current situations of the project management of domestic car manufactures and put forwards some substantial proposals to the future project management.It endues the following conclusions according to the research of the time plan of Magotan project:1. Project management is helpful to improve the competitive ability and economical profits of enterprises, and furthermore the time plan control is the most important point in the project management. As for the development of Magotan project, it involves in more project activities, longer duration period, and also each activity is interactive, therefore the project time plan can be effectively controlled by the way of the theory and tools of project management.2. By the way of using the time plan management in Magotan project, we can find the key routes and the key events in the complicated project activities, therefore we find the most important things for project management. If we can control the time plan for the key events well, which means we have a well control for the whole project.3. There is a comparatively mature system and workflow for the product management in Volkswagen AG and FAW-VW. The establishment of milestones and experienced figures such as duration of each activity etc in project management substantially support and guarantee the whole project of Magotan.4. Of course there are also some weak points existed in product development process in FAW-VW such as: there is no special department to be responsible for project management, no perfect and complete management for nominated localization parts etc, and several proposals are put forward aiming at the current project system and process in FAW-VW at the end of the thesis.The main method researched in the thesis is to trim the activities in product development and make it in line with the requirements of the time plan, and then by the way of time plan control such as: precedence diagram method, analogism estimation, core path method, Gantt chart, combining the characteristics of product management of automobile, the author put forward suggestions, which effectively controls the time plan of the project.The proposals as below are put forward based on the research of the time plan control of Magotan project and current situations of project management of domestic car manufactures:1. To set up a flexible and matrix project management organization in enterpriseCurrently there isn't a special strategic department to coordinate and organize the information and work of each department in the company for the project management of the domestic car manufactures, which makes the result that the project is not intensively managed and with low efficiency and profit. In order to cope with the increasingly severe competition in the market, car manufactures must change the current mode of project management and recreate the current project management based on the mature theory, system and process of project management, as a result to establish a flexible, matrix organization for project management, which adapt well to the development of the enterprises. So a project management department should be set up directly under the decision level of the company to plan, supervise the whole project, which shall allocates the source of enterprise based on a certain of product and technology platform, and it realizes the switch from"focus on product"to"focus on customer".2. To strengthen the training of project management for all employees As the core source of the enterprises development—human resource must set up a concept to facilitate the project management, a systematic training must be held concerning new commercial environment and contemporary reform of enterprises administration for all employees, which shall makes all employees to work in accordance with the principle of project management consciously.3. To study and introduce the advanced project management system from overseas car manufacturesMost of the main car manufactures in China currently are joint ventures, these company should take full use of this chance to study and digest the advanced project management abroad, combining the characteristics in China to establish a featured project management system, which is in line with the actual situation of China and tendency theory development of project management, in order to enhance the development of domestic car manufactures.Project management has been successfully used in the development of car manufacturing in abroad, and it also has already been a standard management way in product development in Europe, America and Japan. The car manufacturers must improve their levels of project management, and continuously perfect and complete the process of product development basis on the contemporary knowledge of project management, then their competitive ability can be improved substantially. At the same time, to improve the science-contents in design and development, and put the car product development into a scientific, standardized and high efficient way to comprehensively improve the development ability of the car product development in our country.
