Research On Income Gap Between Urban And Rural Habitants

The economists and the public have focus on the gap of income distribution in our country. The developing gap of income distribution has greatly prevented the development of consumption demand, and also affected the social stabilization.The decision of 16th party conference pointed out that there are two essential factors in constructing a harmonious society in our country. One is constructing a reasonable distribution system of economic income, the other is fully ensuring the democratic rights of citizens. Compared with the two factors, constructing a reasonable system of income distribution is more important than building up a harmonious society.Now, many departments of government have realized the importance to narrow the income gap between urban and rural area. Raising peasants' income has been one of the most important jobs of the party and the government for recent years. It is not an easy job. It's necessary to study the actuality of the income gap between urban and rural area.This article tends to study the actuality of income gap between urban and rural area and its effect to the economy and society of our country. It also tries to analyze its basic reasons from 3 aspects: economic development, social structure reformation and economic policy. Finally, it provides the countermeasures to narrow the income gap between urban and rural area.
