Since the reform and opening up,Shanxi's economy has entered a stage of rapid growth. The government has changed the long-term closed state of the city and accelerated the process of urbanization. This process has brought about an absolute increase in the income level of urban and rural residents, but along with the income gap between urban and rural residents have fluctuated in a gradually rising trend, which means that the social income distribution not all the problems to be solved,if this trend continues,on one hand it limits the consumption of rural areas, leading to the overall economic efficiency decline,on the other hand,it will stimulates social contradictions, resulting uncoordinated in social. In the process of promoting urbanization, the quality of urbanization can be measured by the income gap between urban and rural residents, and urbanization is an important factor affecting the income gap between urban and rural residents.Based on this,it is of great significance to study how to manage the income distribution better while promoting the stable economic growth and accelerating the urbanization process, especially to solve the income gap between urban and rural residents.Based on the analysis of the present situation of urbanization and urban-rural income gap in Shanxi Province, this paper constructs the theoretical framework of urban-rural income gap, analyzes theurbanization, economic growth, industrial structure upgrading, government preference and government behavior. The impact of the income gap between urban and rural residents path, and on the basis of the corresponding five theoretical hypothesis. Then, the regression analysis was carried out by using the time series statistics of Shanxi Province from1978 to 2014,and the proportion of urban population, per capita GDP,the output value of the second and tertiary industries were the proportion of GDP,the proportion of agricultural expenditure to fiscal expenditure and the proportion of fiscal expenditure to GDP The income gap between urban and rural residents, through the relevant variables for unit root test,co-integration test and Granger causality test to verify whether the hypothesis is established. The results of empirical analysis show that the improvement of urbanization level, industrial structure and urban bias have not narrowed the income gap between urban and rural residents, the level of economic development, government behavior has a positive effect on narrowing the income gap between urban and rural residents.Based on the empirical analysis of statistical data, this paper gives a reference measure.
