| This thesis focuses on the problems in software management, such as the complexity of test flow, the high cost of bug fix, as well as the management effects which are difficult to measure. The goal of this paper is to point out that defect management can improve software quality, reduce cost, and realize the quantization of project management.In this paper, I applied the theory and technology of defect management to propose a general process for the implementation of defect measurement. I also developed a defect-measurement function in EDS which was applied in my real project. By this tool we got good results.In this thesis, I focused on the principle and implementation about defect-measurement indicators, such as defect density, defect removal rate, defect correction rate, defect discovering rate, defect transmitting rate, etc. Referring to the details within this thesis, we applied metrical technology in the design of defect management tool and implemented the function which can automatically accumulate defect density, establish a baseline, and estimate product quality, according to the characteristics of normal distribution.The main purpose of this thesis is that we analyzed the difficulty faced in software project management, pointed out a methodology for the application in defect metrics area and used it in a real project, which can improve process capability and reduce management budget and improve product quality. This thesis also pointed out the deficiency of popular defect management tools, and provided a good supplement for the defect management tools by realizing a module about defect estimation in EDS system. |
