Study On Tianjin's Economic Status And The Changing Tren

As one of the birthplaces of modern industry and commerce in China and an international port city,in more than one hundred years Tianjin had been the economic center of Northern China and the second largest industrial and commercial city after Shanghai,which played an important role in the modern history of economic development.However,as the adjustment of China's regional economic structure in the economic reforms and opening up,Tianjin's economic status declined,which draws wide attention among the whole society.Especially when Tianjin is clearly named as the "Economic Center of Northern China" in 2006,it becomes a focus to study the changing trends of Tianjin's economic status.The paper is based on regional economic development theories and economic growth theories,learning from the results of previous research,to establish the evaluation index system of city's economic status.On this basis,it chooses 30 Chinese provinces,municipalities and autonomous regions including Tianjin as the comparison objectives,using the relevant value indicators of those regions in a time range of 1952 to 2006,and factor analysis to calculate the comprehensive strength of different regions in different years,and thus to get the historic track of Tianjin's economic status.The results show that,during the period of 1952-2006,the changing trend of Tianjin's economic status could be divided into three phases:1952-1977,the high and stable phase;1978-1992,the rapidly declining phase;1993-2006,the steadily rerising phase.In addition,we noticed that from 2002 to 2006,Tianjin's economic statues declined again in the national structure.On this basis,the paper analyzes the reasons which cause the changing of Tianjin's economic status,makes a comprehensive assessment of Tianjin's advantages and disadvantages,and to make some recommendations of the strategic choices for constructing Tianjin as the economic center of Northern China..
