Fire power dominates the electricity industry in china. Looking through the layout of power plants in china, there are a lot of fire power plants congregating in districts along the railway. Beijing-Kowloon Railway is one of the main traffic arteries in china. Before and after its completion, the electricity industry in the districts along Beijing-Kowloon Railway has undergone great changes, the number of power plants, the power generation and the scale of generating capacity having significantly increased.This paper is mainly based on industrial location theory and points-axis theory, using qualitative and quantitative analysis method, and it takes Beijing-Kowloon Railway for example to analyze impact of railway on the layout of power plants. The article analyzes the production characteristics of power industry, the location factors of the layout of power industry and the economic properties of railway. Combining these factors and characteristics, this paper explains how the power industry distributes and the effects of railway transportation. The article takes Beijing-Kowloon Railway which is the largest and costs most in investment in china for example. Through field visits and a great deal of information collection, this paper makes a comparison between the development of electricity industry along Beijing-Kowloon railway before and after its completion, and it also tries to explain the reasons of power industry's gathering in the districts along Beijing-Kowloon railway.The article maintains the point that railway and fired-power industry distribution have close relationship. The role of railway playing in fire power industry distribution reflects in three aspects: First, it changes the geographic conditions along the railway and the scope of raw materials and fuel sources expands; second, it provides a large number of stable coal transportation for the power plants alongside, and ensures the raw materials transport for the power plants' construction and power generation; third, it generates the clustering effect, making the demand for electricity increased in districts along the railway, while the liquidity of these districts also increased. Meanwhile, it provides a good regional condition for fire power industry to locate along railway.
