After several decades of reform and opening up and development, China's economy has already achieved fruitful results. But, now, the consumer's insufficient demand and slow growth in consumption has become one of the main factors in constraining China's rapid economic growth. Many institutes of consumer economic research emerge; researches and papers about the consumption function, consumer theory, and consumer behavior are common. Consumer behavior is not immutable, it will be changed with a consumer preferences'and the external environment's changes. Therefore, in the course of study continued to move forward, the assumptions in consumption function gradually are relaxed, the factors of affecting the consumer are considered more comprehensively, and the growing number of economic variables are introduced, from the initial current income to expected income, inflation rate and liquidity constraints, etc. Theoretical research constantly moves closer to the real economic environment. In the past, when studying the factors of impacting the household consumption's growth, many scholars establish china's consumer functions that are based on a closed economic condition, few consider the indicators in the open economic condition. So far, china has a high dependence on foreign trade that impacting the national economy more. China's foreign trade but on the current economic environment, as has long stressed the exports brought about by the trade surplus is too large, increased trade friction, such as a series of issues, leading to exports faced with great pressure; On the other hand, with china's accession to the WTO, imports also began to increase sharply, especially in last few yeas, import growth rate over the export imports, we can not ignore the role of imports as in the past, so we begin to consider the possibility of easing the pressure on exports by increasing imports. Under such a background, this thesis positively analyzes the impact of china import on domestic household consumer growth.First, the thesis analyzes the impact of import on economy growth theoretically, figuring the import accelerates household consumption's growth through promoting economic growth, thereby increasing the income of residents; changing the distribution of national income; expanding consumers'choice; changing the awareness of consumers. Then, the thesis adopts co-integration theory to measure the real impact of China import on household consumption's growth on the basis of the data in 1980-2005. it shows that, there is a long-term relationship between import and household consumption's growth, and the growth of import is the Granger cause of household consumption's growth. Household consumption grows 28.4%, resulting from the import grows 1%. The impact of investment production on household consumption's growth is bigger than that of consumer production. Finally, the thesis puts forward some pointed and operable countermeasures advices in order to enhance the positive impact of import on household consumption's growth. It suggests strengthening the scale of import trade growth, optimizing the trade structure of imports and adjusting the strategy of import trade policy proposals.
