As a new model of project management which is particularly suitable for large construction and engineering projects, Project Management Contracting (PMC) has been greatly developed in the recent 20 years. Cost control and schedule control are among the critical aspects of a PMC contractor's management functions. However, without a close connection between cost and schedule control, an integrated control system has not been established efficiently.Based on Activity Based Costing theory and Earned Value theory, and combined the features of schedule and cost control system in PMC projects, this thesis aims to develop an effective and practical theory and method of integrated cost and schedule control system for PMC, which can be used to improve the information sharing between the functional departments within a PMC contractor and optimize the organization structure. In this thesis, theory and case analysis is performed as the research method to ensure the practicability of the research outcome. First the main factors why the efficient integrated cost and schedule control system have not been established is sufficiently analyzed. Considering the features of schedule and cost control system in PMC projects, the activity based costing matrix and data structure of cost and schedule control system is established to integrate the activities and the cost units. Then, based on Earned Value theory, a series of key performance indicators for the integrated cost and schedule control system is established for quantitative analysis. Finally a large PMC project in petrochemical area is taken as an example for empirical analysis.
