Study On Crab Industrial Development In Jiangsu Province

The industrialization of agriculture in China is a major approach of reformation of the rural operational system, it was an efficient organization in leading the farmers to enter the market, it integrate agricultural producing, processing and marketing into a chain, and achieve a transformation of decentralized farmer operation into market-driven economy, and the new mode of growth and the management mode. It has become an effective way in increasing the agricultural production, farmers incomes and social development in the rural area. There are many domestic and abroad scholars reported research results on the industrialization of agriculture from different angles of view, which mainly include agricultural industrialization theoretical connotations, basic features, form of organization and operation mechanism, etc. It is significant to strengthen the research theoretically and practically on industrialization of agriculture to accelerate the transformation from traditional agriculture to morder agriculture, coordination of urban and rural development and building the well-off society.Mitten crab (Eriocheir sinensis) is an high-valued and important aquatic product of aquaculture and exportation in China. There are scientific research focused on the nutrition, quality, germplasm and breeding technology and the industrial development mainly concentrated in the crab production region. The crab industry development can be roughly described into three satges, i.e. the wild capture stage, stocking enhancement stage and intensive aquaculture stage. During the tenth national five-year plan, the Ministry of agriculture launched the project on major production and demonstration bases for crab develop, the middle and lower reaches of Yangtze River has been selected and developed into the major production region for crab exportation. And this project has greatly promoted the development of crab industry in this region.Jiangsu Province is the important crab production region, with the highest production in China. It has the top technology in crab seed breeding, juvenile crab production, and market-size crab culture, processing and marketing in China. Crab industrial development had formed the industrial chain of crab seed breeding, juvenile crab nursing, large scale crab health aquaculture, crab processing and marketing network, and has shown the characteristics of a regionalized production, industrialization production pattern, chained production system, organizational management, socialized service institute, standarded production cycle and management, and brand rade strategy. The crab industry has achieved considerable economic and social benefits and has become the pillar industry of fisheries and rural economy in Jiangsu Province.Although, the development of the crab industry, the scale of the industry, product quality, market competitiveness were significantly increased in Jiangsu Province in recent years, the crab industrialized management in Jiangsu was still in the preliminary stage. There were some problems exits, such as crab quality declined, low level of organization, improper interest linkage, small scale of leading enterprises, less expansion of the industrial chain, weakness of technical research and extension, which hindered the crab industry development sustainablely, rapidly and coordinately.With the basic theory and experience of agricultural industrialization, the present status and main characteristics of crab industry development in Jiangsu province were analyzed, the main countermeasures were also discussed, which included innovation of science and technology, increase the crab quality, optimize the organization chart, proper the benefit linkage, promote the leading enterprise, strengthen the technical extension, expanding the processing, longer the production and market chain, etc.; from the government side, the input in science and technology research should also be increased, and the technical extension system should be reformed.In general, crab industrial management in Jiangsu Province is at an early development stage. As a brand-new mode of operation and organization, it need to be studied and shift on the right growth track. This paper has done a preliminary analyses on the crab industry in Jiangsu province, in order to provide some technical guideline in crab industry development in Jiangsu Province.
