Effects Of Audit On Improving Quality Management Of Seed Company

Seeds are important materials for agriculture production.Seed quality is related to expect benefit of agricultural input and social stability.In modern agriculture,a series of process is concerned from seed production to seed utilization.How to manage these processes is a key problem for a seed company to insure seed quality. On the basis of reviewing quality certification and existing problems of seed companies in China and abroad,this thesis analyzed the relationship between quality performance in the process of seed production and selling of seed companies and standard certification of ISO9001:2000 quality management system.Meanwhile, using data of MT Seed Company as an example,the effect of improving quality management was analyzed by applying ISO9001:2000 quality system audit during 2004～2007.Main results are summarized as follows.1.By continuous audit from 2004 to 2007,average seed purity of hybrid rice in MT Seed Company increased 1.6%(from 97.4%in 2004 to 99.0%in 2007).The amount of seed sales increased 13 times in 2007 compared with 2004,in terms of money(RMB).Degree of satisfactory of seed customer increased 16.7%from 2004 (80%)to 2007(96.7%)2.Number of customer complain for seed quality problem decreased from 300 (in 2004)to 7(in 2007)per year.Number of unqualified seed lot decreased from 15 (in 2004)to 3(in 2007)per year.Number of dispute due to seed quality problem decreased from 10(in 2004)to 3(in 2007)per year.3.Professional ability in audit team,collection of purity identification data in Hainan Province,and observation in laboratory,storage room,and field are 3 key factors of improving efficiency of audit for quality management system of seed companies certified already.
