The Research Of DELL's Supply Chain Management

DELL Corporation is the world-famous successful company in IT industry. DELL has created a rapid rise and has been a myth in the PC manufacturers by its Direct Model. The reason why DELL's direct model acquired so proud success is that DELL virtual integrated its upstream and downstream enterprises and created a supply chain that connected economic interest, complemented each other's advantages.This paper introduced the DELL's supply chain management model, and then combined the theoretical knowledge of the supply chain management to analysis the Dell's supply chain model. I wish it can make us to understand of the operation model of the DELL's supply chain deeply, and understand why the supply DELL chain management can bring us benefits. I also wish that the Chinese enterprises can learn from the advanced experience of DELL, through the supply chain management to enhance their own competitiveness.This paper is divided into six sections:The first section introduced this paper's researching background, the significance of the research, researching purposes and research methods.The second section introduced the concept of supply chain and supply chain management, the development direction of the supply chain and other relevant system such as customer relationship management, vendor managed inventory, Just in time and Bullwhip effect.The third section describes the status of DELL and its development history.The fourth section introduced t he direct model from DELL briefly.The fifth section is the focus of this paper. In this part, I expounded and analyzed the Virtual Integration model of DELL's supply chain management, also analyzed the key processes of DELL's supply chain management, included procurement management, supplier management, stock management, manufacture management, logistics and delivery management and customer relationship management.The sixth section is conclusion, summarized the successful supply chain management model of DELL, pointed out that the soul of DELL's supply chain management is 3A ,which named quick response (Agile), allows the interests of all parties coordinated (Aligned), strong adaptability (Adaptable ).I also summarized the significance which China's enterprises should reference from DELL's supply chain management model.
