It is known to everybody that as a major export country, China plays an important role in the world economic structure. The strong trend of growth of export is the essential engine which draws the Chinese economy sustained developing. However, at present, the export of China is facing the difficulty of sustainable development. External environment's worsening and the structure's fundamental flaw of China export make the Chinese foreign trade face serious challenges, so how to transform the way which can keep the export increasing is a key question. Whether the development of China's outward direct investment can increase the export of China, and promote the structure of Chinese export commodities? These are the questions which this article is going to discuss.This article mainly analyzes the following three questions: Is the relationship between the outward direct investment and the export of china is supplementary or substitute? Can we improve the Chinese export commodity structure through outward direct investment? How do we develop the outward direct investment to make Chinese export trade getting sustainable development? These three questions are closely linked with the direction of the further develop of China's outward direct investment, relate to the positive transformation of the way of China foreign trade growth in the new period, closely connect with the overall advancement of Chinese economy modernization, and associate with the competition and the development of China in the world economics structure. The study on these questions has certain practical significance to instruct the implement of the China "walks" strategy and to promote the Chinese foreign trade development.
