A Sustainable Foreign Trade Of The Yanbian Region

In 1987, the World Commission on Environment and Development (WCED) published a report entitled Our Common Future. In this report, "Sustainable Development" was given the most authoritative definition, that is, "Human has the ability to make development sustainable to ensure that it meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. " Along with the development of human society, and the in-depth study on "Sustainable Development" in the theoretical sphere, from broad perspective, as one of sustainable development projects, the sustainable development of foreign trade is increasingly drawing wider international community' s attention.With the in-depth development of economic globalization and intergradations, the scope of China' s opening-up has been extended gradually from special economic zones to coastal areas, areas along rivers and border areas. The Yanbian region is located in the tri-border area, which is in China, near Russia and North Korea. The special geographical position, which is near the river, neighboring countries border line, and sea, has drawn extensive attention domestically and even internationally. A healthy, safe and sustainable development of regional foreign trade will not only stimulate regional economic growth, but also be greatly significant to the development of Jilin province as well as the opening pattern of china as a whole. The paper mainly has four parts:In the first part, it tells the basic theories of sustainable development and sustainable development of foreign trade.In the second part, it takes foreign trade of the Yanbian region as the research object. Through the study on its foundation, progress, deep-rooted institutional mechanism, and so on, we will be able to acknowledge the main points of this research. Since the tenth "five - year-plan" , the foreign trade of the Yanbian region has been developed greatly: the foreign trade turnover rises year by year; main bodies of foreign trade realize a multiplication; the trade with the main partners grows rapidly, and so on. In the third part, it points out that there are still many problems in the foreign trade of the Yanbian region. The problems occurring are the following: The foreign trade development is unbalanced; The structure of foreign trade goods is irrational; The foreign trade partners are too self centered in their community, and not China as a whole, and so on. It is not the sustainable development in the true sense.The main reasons why the issues above have become more problematic, because the ideas and concepts are not up to date with modern society; the market' s mechanism is hyperplasia, the natural geographical environment exists with limitations, in which the policy' s system needs to be improved, and so on.In the forth part, it gives out the countermeasure and suggestion to solve the issues above: We must be guided by Deng Xiaoping' s theory of opening up the economy to the outside world; to transform government functions, Seize and make good use of various favorable policies, pay attention to the role of environmental factors in the foreign trade development, to achieve diversification of the foreign trade market, and so on. In order to make the foreign trade of the Yanbian region improve, we should gradually take down the problems and steps to rack sustain development.
